Key Bridal Shoe Trends for Summer Weddings

Key Bridal Shoe Trends for Summer Weddings article image

Summer is wedding season! If you (or someone you know) is having a summer wedding, then take a look at the latest bridal shoe trends for 2018. We’re talking T- bars, peep toes, mules, and a whole lot of embellishment!

Your bridal shoes are one of (if not the) most important pairs of shoes you’ll ever own. They’ll walk you up and down the aisle, see you through the wedding breakfast, dance you across the floor with your new partner, and be admired in photographs for years to come. So, it’s no surprise that some brides feel the pressure when picking out their all-important shoes – it’s a big deal!

Don’t panic, though – our team of bridal shoe experts at Emmy London are here to help you with this monumental decision. We want to provide you with some inspiration of what you could slip on this summer with our run-down of 2018 summer wedding shoe trends. Take a peep and see if anything catches your eye!

Talk About the T-Bar

T-Bar fastenings are set to be all the rage this summer so make sure that you try a pair on! If you aren’t sure what a T-Bar is, it’s when a shoe strap comes up the centre of the shoe and then, at the top of the foot, splits off into two straps that run horizontally. The strap looks like a ‘T’.

T-bar straps have an elegant, vintage feel and are great for adding some extra support for women who want to be comfortable and chic! They were first seen in the early 20th Century in Europe and America and are a great choice for women who want to feel steadier on their feet, as there’s no chance that these are going to slip off.

We have a whole range of T-bar shoes, including our divine Eleonora heels which have a pearl and crystal T-bar inspired by shells and the sea – perfect for a summer wedding by the beach! Our gorgeous May Gold flat sandals are ideal if your wedding is actually on the beach, as these Italian gold T-bar sandals are flat, and light as a feather.

Peeping a Peep Toe

A peep toe is a great choice for your 2018 summer wedding shoe. It’s the perfect way to ensure that your cute pedicure doesn’t go to waste and also lets your feet breathe, which can be a delight when the weather’s hotter.

The peep toe has been a favourite style since the 1940s, weaving its way in and out of fashion over the decades. It’s very much back in favour these days, and the style is so versatile its been used to accompany wedges, kitten heels, flats, sandals, boots – you name it!

Almandine Bridal Sandals by Emmy London
At Emmy London, we love a good peep-toe; just take a look at our Almondine. This stunning bridal sandal is one of the first to use Emmy’s new embroidery technique, combined with tiny gold glass beads, and of course, that sensational peep toe.
Our Ella peep toe heels provide brides with a lower heel, but the same art-deco glamour. We think a peep toe is perfect for an outdoor summer wedding.

New York Bridal Fashion Week

One place where you can be sure to see this summer’s bridal shoe trends is at New York Bridal Fashion Week. We’re all incredibly excited about the upcoming fashion week here at Emmy, which takes places from April 11th-17th. If you want to feast your eyes on even more summer bridal shoe trends (and spot the ones we’ve mentioned here) be sure to keep up to date with what’s going on! It’s the perfect opportunity to get inspiration for your summer wedding.

If you need help with this summer’s trends, any of our bridal shoes, or have any questions for our team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch or pop into the boutique. We’re always more than happy to help!
