Charlotte & Matt

We absolutely love these gorgeous images of our beautiful bride Charlotte and her husband Matt on their special day. They wed in Wiltshire on 10th August 2019, almost 2 years after they became engaged.

Who proposed and how?
Matt proposed during a holiday in Greece. It was a complete surprise! He suggested a picnic on the beach for dinner and said that our villa owner had suggested a small, private cove a short walk away. It was almost deserted, apart from an old man fishing with his dog at the other end of the cove! After dinner, Matt got onto one knee and proposed with a gorgeous trilogy ring. It was so romantic and I was buzzing for days!

Where was your wedding?
We were married at St John's Church in Devizes, Wiltshire, where Matt's family have been going for years. Our reception was at Grittleton House.
What was your vision for your wedding?
We are both serving in the Army, and wanted a traditional military wedding, with a guard of honour outside the church. We are away a lot for work and miss our friends and family, and so our main priority was to have all our favourite people in one place to celebrate, with a focus on good food and drink, and a packed dance floor!
What shoes did you choose?
I chose the Bluebell bridal shoes. I remember seeing them on 'Love My Dress' blog and falling in love! I wanted coloured shoes, and these were the perfect "something blue".
How was your experience with Emmy London?
I had a great experience. I had a good idea what I was looking for, and the ladies in the shop gave really helpful advice. They gave me plenty of time to try on different styles and I didn't feel at all rushed. I spent some time choosing between the standard and block heel, both of which were gorgeous. After the wedding day, my shoes needed a clean, and the Emmy team did a wonderful job of restoring them back to their original glory! I am looking forward to wearing them again many times in the future.

What were your most memorable and favourite moments of the day? Is there any advice you would give to future couples, in the buying shoes process or in any aspect of the wedding experience?

We were so lucky to have such a wonderful day, with lots of memorable moments. It was such an amazing feeling to walk down the aisle to Matt and say our vows after 9 years together and all the planning in the build up to the wedding. My favourite part of the day was the speeches - lots of laughter and love! Some of my favourite photos are the reaction shots from the speeches. My advice to couples would be to include the things that are meaningful to you on your wedding day, and not to feel under pressure to include something (or leave something out) because it isn't fashionable, or based on someone else's opinion. If the day is a reflection of you, your guests will love it! And invest in photography, because the memories are so precious.
Regarding shoes, I had never bought a pair of "designer" shoes before and I am so glad I did! They are a wonderful keepsake of the day which I can wear again and again. The only thing I wish I'd done differently is to remember to put on the heel protectors I had bought - in all the excitement of getting ready I forgot to use them, and ended up sinking into the grass during our reception!
